On Fire II
Reilly Fallon
A Coleman’s Urchin shrimp. They are found living amongst fire urchins, clearing a small patch of spines to reside in. With unique coloration, they blend in well to their colorful counterpart and will stay on the same urchin for the majority of their lives. Once I spotted this small 2 cm long shrimp, I got a closer look to shoot this portrait. This is an example of commensalism. Meaning one species benefits from the relationship, while the other derives neither benefit nor harm. The shrimp benefits from its home, using the urchin's venomous spines as its main defense.
